You may have already started scouring the internet and, if so, you have probably noticed that furnaces come with percentages attached. One furnace may have 80% AFUE attached to its name, while the other shows 90%+ AFUE. What do they mean and how can you decide which is best for you? Here are some basics I’ve put together to help you along.

A general rule of thumb is that, if your entire system needs replaced, doing it part-by-part will cost about 40% more than doing it all at once. 

Efficiency: Older HVAC units require more energy to run than the latest high-efficiency models. Even though you'll spend a chunk of money on your new system, you could save more money on your monthly energy bill in the long run. Reliability: The best way to ensure a reliable system only requiring routine maintenance is to replace the whole thing

and due to some recent changes in laws regarding the efficiency of units are distributors may in the future start requiring a complete change out to receive a certification for your system and cities and other municipalities will start requiring the certificates but if you install before the laws go into effect which vary from area to area we may still be able to replace parts for pieces of your HVAC system
